Bugs Bunny

I know a character called bugs bunny
And he is really very funny
He likes to eat carrots all day long
And will sometimes even sing a song

I'm not a fan of the bugs bunny one, though I'm sure children will enjoy the rhyme pattern. As for the second, I like that it's not in a rhyme scheme. A lot of people get the impression that a poem has to rhyme.

To really expand on your poetry, try this exercise. Cut out words from a newspaper that you find interesting. You can try 30 at first, and then next time you try it, try 20. It gets a little harder. You'll find that every word has to pull it's weight. Every word counts and contributes in a  major way.
