It rained all night.  Steady straight down rain so the window stayed open.  I woke up several times and thought 'This is the kind of steady rain which helps to fill reservoirs'.  Then it rained all morning, which i thought was taking a good thing a bit too far.  Taking liberties with my tolerance as it were..

Around midday the rain stopped dead, as if someone had turned off a tap.  Then it went all thundery and grey, and heavy. I could feel the pressure squeezing down on my scalp.  I hate weather like that, and, fickle as ever, was praying for a proper storm because then the pressure just vanishes with the first flash, like a bursting balloon.  But after an hour or so the sky cleared, the sun came out, and the pavements, rooftops, and soggy wooden fences were steaming for a while.

Now, in the evening, it's a bit cooler, there's a gentle breeze, and it feels great.  If my back would co-operate I'd probably do a somersault or two.  But not today ;-(

A bit overcast today but no rain as far as the forecast tells.

Chilly but not as cold, winter may be finally taking the hint.  ;D

Here in Spain really windy and it's only 8.30am so will be blowing a gale all day, but at least it's cooler right now. Expecting another heatwave next week.

Cool pic, Andrew. How did you get this shot? Was it a long exposure? Were you outside in such weather? I think I'd fear for my life!

Thanks Kathleen. :)

I set the camera up on a tripod, pointing through the window with the lens (18 - 55) set at the wide-angle, and a 15 second exposure time but a small-ish apperture.  and just left it going for the entire length of the storm.  :D

Fine day but light cloud. I may venture into the garden and start to get it ready for spring.  ;D

Time to plant some herbs and tomatoes and a few other things I can't kill.  ::)

We are having a MEDIA event here. They have been panicking everyone with threats of a massive hurricane (Irene) and then downgrading it every few hours. (it is now a "tropical storm". it's supposed to be here tomorrow (Sun) but our gov declared a state of emergency yesterday. The stores are sold out of batteries and bottled. It is drizzling at current (7:30 EST)
I'll believe it when it gets here.

Mid-to-upper 70s. An absolutely beautiful day.

We had our "Dragon Boat" races on one of the larger lakes around here (there are lots of them). 20 rowers per boat (they are abnormally long, skinny things), one oarsman, one person to call cadence. Lost our first heat, won the second, lost the third by 1.95 seconds. Went home tired and sore, with little more to show for it but a sunburn (we were out there almost eight hours total) and a lot of fun memories.

I'll post a picture, if any of our spectators got a good one.  :D

If you'd ever been in a hurricane (or a tropical storm, for that matter), you would know they are nothing to be cavalier about. A tropical storm can dump 15-20" of rain in a very short time and cause massive flooding. 60 mph winds are nothing to sneeze at, either. Hurricane winds are fierce, and the most frightening thing I have ever been through. I have two sons who have been through several of them (southern Florida), and they would say the same thing.  :-\

Hope your sheep are on high ground.  ;)
