Having not written anything - on my NaNo novel or anything else - since 30 Nov, I get home tonight after an afternoon/evening of crazy Christmas shopping, with a story in my head that I have to write down.

I had the concept of this story a while ago, but not the words, and it came to me strangely while I was looking at books and toys and getting frustrated by not being able to find what I wanted for my girl.

So I just wrote nearly 900 words (some of it notes, so I don't forget what was in my head) in about 1 1/2 hours. Must sleep now, though - it's 1am.

Do you think 8- and 9-year-olds will respond to a first-person narrator? Because that's how it's come out. (Not how I originally expected to write it.)

Hope all is well with you all in the world of words. :)
K

Very cool!

See what the Nano triggered in your cranium!!

Yes, I think they will respond well, if the narrator had the right same level tone as their thoughts.

Well done you

No ;-)
My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

C'mon, haven't you ever wanted to write a screenplay?

On second thoughts, I probably can't Screnzy because I'm doing something which basically amounts to doing another Nano but without the support system.
