The Goof's Protest
« on: July 07, 2006, 10:29:36 AM »
Here is a poem I wrote a while ago that I'm fairly proud of.

The Goof's Protest
I'm not a Goof
I'm a spoof on Life
a Parody on Humanity that begs to be bought for the low, low price of your sanity.
I'm the city slicker allergic to steel
Just awakening from the short death that claims all but insomniacs
I'm the country boy with agoraphobia
content with mediocre
wishing for more than ok
hopin to be a broker
a stoker
nothin but a polka player with the souls of the friends he wishes to have
I am the way, the path, the channel of inspiration from the pen through your heart to the page
I am a Writer
You may think "writer, author, Big Deal!
You get 'em a dime a dozen in the big cities, Right?"
Well let me tell you now
I may not be the Smartest
I may not be the Greatest
I may not even have the longest Attention sp----hey i like your hair!
But i know that anytime, anywhere, everywhere, everytime I want
I can write
For I am the writer of my generation
the channel of inspiration.

 ???anyone care to comment? ???
*pop* That was my head. It just got blown.

I hear this as rap - it flows like that.

Like it.

I like the poetry in rap but as a wordsmith sometimes get irritated that the music (and as a musician I might add) can hide the words - but probably just my slightly older ears losing definition.

Cheers
Carrie

I really like this and I instantly thought it would do well put to music, but being me I saw it as rock rather than rap! :P

It's more meant to be a slam poem. I've tried putting music and a beat to it, but it doesn't seem to work the way i want it to. I just want to say it without the restraints of a beat. don't get me wrong, I love music, but i just don't want to write with it, unless i'm actually writing a song, but that's only when i do screenplays of musicals, but those never work out, so I'm rambling arent I? ???
