Hurricane Pilot
« on: June 27, 2006, 12:10:33 PM »

He sits in the silence, the sun behind and above,
….The advantage.
Watching patiently, this is the worst part of his role,
…The waiting.
Below lies Kent beneath white feathery eiderdown,
…The peacefulness.
He looks to port, to starboard and then he sees him,
….The glinting.
He wonders if it's his fancy, but then he sees it again,
….The confirmation.
He tenses instantly when he sees the yellow spinner,
….The enemy.
Peeling off to port and diving, finger on the button,
….The chase.
He watches the enemy dive, to take evasive action,
…The futility.
So he jabs the button twice, he feels the chattering,
…The hot metal.
He sees sparks, then oil, then smoke and then fire,
…The finality.
A flash of underbelly and then its fall to Earth,
….The regret.

i was worried that I hadn't pulled off what I intended, it's nice to hear that it worked.
