Smurf, I think testing and/or pushing yourself as a writer is what NaNo is all about. For me, the numbers aren't as important as what you learn about yourself in the process.

So, you won also since you now know that if the reason is compelling enough, you can do it.  ;D

Rick, #1 son, was also doing NaNo. He and I were both running behind until the last few days. Then we started pushing each other.

I've never given up (willingly) when challenged by one of my sons.  8)

I agree. I learned so much about myself as a writer, about my own voice and about how much I can do if I have to. NaNo was a great experience!

Country4Gal - I think you're right, it's more important to use these things to find out about yourself and how you tackle challenges (and that's what life is about in many ways). So while I wouldn't say I'd won, I'm certainly not beating myself up about it, and I don't consider myself to have lost  :)

And depending on how considerate your son is, your spirit must lead to some interesting challenges! ;D

Smurf, you're invited to the permanent post-nano thread, right here on this board, if you would like to join us there.

Thank you! It's nice to actually be invited rather than stumble into things - though that's never stopped me before!  ;D

I did spot the permanent NaNo thread just after I'd posted the first time this evening, but it woulda seemed rude not to reply here!

See you on the other thread!

Eric and Sio obviously have better manners than I do. But then again since you are a NaNo-er it was a given for me that you would be invited to the other thread as well, smurf :) see u there
