« on: August 27, 2010, 04:59:05 AM »
I received the following email today from Rita Begum in the UK:

We are in the process of publishing our first monthly magazine.

We need a few writers to submit articles on several subjects.

Homes
Gardening
Cooking
Book Reviews
Restaurant Reviews
Fun Pages
Short Stories
Local Events

For every article published, we will pay 25.

If you are interested, then please drop me a few lines with your telephone no. and I'll call you back.

Email: rjpublicationsltd -AT- yahoo.co.uk (change the -AT- for the usual @ symbol)

Many Thanks!

Rita

I have sent an enquiry (and mentioned that it was on this forum I saw the advertising) :)

Mr Martinez.

This is not personal because you are not alone in doing this.  I see it happen again and again

An editor or publisher posts here on MWC asking writers and would be writers  to contact them, and provides their contact details.  So you - and others -  reply in a post on the thread leaving it up to them to contact you.  It doesn't work that way.

What did the original post say?  If you are interested, then please drop me a few lines with your telephone no. and I'll call you back.

Editors don't pursue writers, well, not until they're really well known in their particular field and not always then.  You need to let them know you're alive.  Show them what you can do.  Show that you can at least understand simple instructions.

It would have taken no longer to send an email - as requested - than to reply to this post.

Nick, the only RJ Publications I could find were a New York based urban fiction company. Do the company mentioned in your opening post have a website so I can check them out properly?

I've not found a website, but a company called RJ PUBLICATIONS LIMITED has existed since 7th December 1993, and is listed as a publisher of books at companies house.

Sorry, the only info I have about this company is what was included in Ms Begum's email. I agree it's a pity there isn't a website to check out, but it appears that this project is still at a very early stage. I assume if all goes well a website will follow.

Nick  :)
