HE DIED FOR YOU TODAY......

HE DIED FOR YOU TODAY

He died for you today

whipped til His skin was in shreds

and hanging by a thread.

All bloody and bruised as a

crown of thorns is pounded

into His head

Then they handed Him a cross

and forced Him to walk down that

long road to that hill that loomed

ahead.

Tripping and stumbling as He

carried His load, down to the ground He fell,

and was whipped once more,

told Him to get to His feet and keep on walking

From out of nowhere a man came and helped

he took the cross from the beaten man on the ground.

He carried it to the hill for that poor battered man, and he turned and left as the guards finished their score

They tore the robe that had covered His

battered body as they threw Him to the ground

as they readied Him for the final phase

They stretched His arms one by one, pounded

a spike into each upturned palm, and crossed

his feet to pound in the last one

In agony and pain, the blood flowed again, as

they hoisted His cross straight up in the air

with one final pound they hung a sign above His

head and this is what it said "KING OF THE JEWS"

He was nailed to that cross for you and for me,

taking the sin of the world upon His strong shoulders you see. And with the blood that flowed from His veins, as He died on the cross that day, saved the world from their sin and damnation and an everlasting hell. And never would we suffer a death such as His.

The blood washed us clean, so we can live eternally in Heaven, with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ is He.

HE DIED FOR YOU TODAY!!!

Works well.  I think the title could be a little lighter though - yes I know it's a very strong subject matter - but maybe something that doesn't restrict the poem to just the one day right from the title.

Cheers
