Article Writing Contest
« on: September 28, 2009, 02:35:32 PM »
Hey everyone.

I don't know how many people here are students, and how many of you consider yourselves to be journalists, but our website uwemp.com is running a contest right now looking for short (400-800 word) entries discussing one of a few "Key Themes Facing Today's College Students"

We're partnered with UPIu, an offset of the news syndicate UPI, and the winner of the contest gets $500, a trip to DC to work with professional journalists at UPI, and publication w/ byline on upi.com (a site with a couple million unique hits a month).

Entry is fairly painless.  Go to http://www.uwemp.com/contest for more information and to submit.

Again, I'm not sure how many of you are students, and of those students, how many are journalists, but for 500 bucks, you should give it a shot.

Nice to see this contest is free to enter - I'm sure students will be pleased about that!

Am I right to assume it's for students in the US only?

Is the contest open for only students or also journalists and is it world wide or just for those based in US?

The contest is open to any student in the world.  The winning check will be in USD, but we will fly you to Washington from anywhere in the world.

Thank you for confounding my expectations! Can't help thinking you should really describe it as an international rather than a national contest on your website though  ;)
