Sure, pb, here are a few ideas, just the ones that I've been able to remember without doing too much research. Research (i.e watching tons of French movies) will come soon.
Le Fabuleux Destin d'Amélie Poulain: Remember that scene where she takes so much sensual pleasure in breaking the sugar crust of her crème brulée with the back of her spoon? Recipe: Classic crème brulée
Le Coeur des Hommes 2: When ...'s (can't remember the character's name) dad dies, the only thing that his mother will eat is his veal blanquette. It's the only thing she can stomach while still mourning (which means it has to be good, right?) Recipe: Veal blanquette
Deux jours à tuer: (Again, can't remember the characters' names) X leaves his family and friends to go to Ireland to reunite with his father. Before leaving, he made everyone hate him because he knew he was going to die in two days of a brain tumor. One of the last experiences he shares with his father is fly fishing and then sitting down to enjoy a simple meal of grilled trout filets, boiled potatoes in olive oil and a beer. The day after seeing the movie, I actually made myself the same dinner--this is what gave me the idea for the book.
Those are some of the ideas (but not necessarily the final or best ones), as this project is still in the earliest of it's 'hey, I've got a good idea' phase.
Any suggestions?
