father's day
« on: June 15, 2008, 07:20:44 AM »
‘Happy Father’s day to the best daddy in the whole wide world. I love you. XXX’

He read the words again, little tears of joy forming in his eyes. Placing the card in his breast pocket he dropped to his knees to talk to her.

‘I love you too Honey. You make me proud to be your dad. You’ll always be my little girl. Always. Nothing can take that away from me.’

His wife took his hand as he started to cry. He placed a big bunch of flowers in the pot by her photograph resting on the gravestone, and walked away.

Hi Daryl!

I said it before, and I'll say it again:
This is a very moving piece of prose, and I can so totally relate to it - from a mother's point of view of course, but really, what's the difference here, huh?
Beautiful, raw and hurting.
Days like these will never be the same.

Daryl,
I'm sending you happy thoughts today. Please tell me this isn't real. If it is, I'm truly sorry. If you've made it up, then I'll send you happy thoughts all week and hope your tortured mind heals soon.  :(

Made it up -

Not a bad writer then.  Not bad at all...  Pretty damned convincing.

My website is currently having a holiday, but will return like the $6,000,000 man.  Bigger, stronger, etc.

In the meantime, why not take pity on a starving author and visit my book sales page at http://stores.lulu.com/gyppo1

When I look at my little princesses I couldn't even do what this character did. I'd be broken forever :'(

Daryl,
Very moving. I took my father to what is probably his last family reunion today. If they are worth it love them while you got them, or be the father that will earn the respect and love of this day.

You wouldn't.
You'd pick up the pieces and move on - because you had to, for your other little girls.
It's that easy - and that hard.
