Poem: Amusement

Amusement

To chase a muse

across the barren land
of wasted misconceptions,

to stumble and fumble
as I do,

and beg it to stop and lend a hand,
to lift me up,

to sit or stand
high atop
its shoulders all day,

is for me to say
I have uncovered
how uncomfortable it can be

to ride the shoulders of a muse
who
never stops
to eat or drink
or even take a snooze.
