I posted something about this Arvon Foundation Poetry Prize a while ago, but I've just received a reminder from them so I thought I'd repeat it, especially as some of the new members may have not seen it the first time round.
1st prize = ₤5,000
2nd prize = ₤2,500
3rd prize = ₤1,000
3 further prizes of ₤500 each.
There's an additional
Ted Hughes Environmental Poetry Prize of £1,000 "
plus Ted Hughes publications and will go to the best poem that deals with the environment, in the broadest sense".The all important link is at
http://www.arvonfoundation.org/p88.html. They're accepting entries from 1st May and the deadline is 15th August.
To my mind, that's pretty good money for poetry that you'll rarely find elsewhere, and that's why I'm entering my very own "Oh Rabbit, How Floppy Art Thine Ears". Don't be disheartened though, you just might be able to come up with something better than this (though I doubt it).

Incidentally, it's well worth a look at the Arvon Foundation website generally. They run all kinds of residential courses for writers at four centres in England and Scotland. I've never been on one of their courses myself but a friend of mine has been on several and says they are excellent.
