anyone ever read 'A Confederacy of Dunces'?

i have to make a book report on it in school and am hoping someone will tell me what it's about.
just kidding.
set in new orleans, it rambles on- wackily.
it's a story people seem to either really like (some consider it genius) or hate. i liked it.

as a side note- the author, john kennedy toole, committed suicide after being unable to get it published for several years. his mother took up the cause and got it published.

as another a side note- back in '98, in Zihuatanejo, Mexico- (where tim robbin's character ends up at the end of The Shawshank Redemption), i met a young spanish lady who was traveling.
she said she read it in spain, in spanish. 8)
