What a coincidence, DS.  I've just started that one, as well.  I'm just a chapter in, though.  did you see the movie?  I did, and liked it, and I'm trying not to compare.

I loved the movie, Laura. I'm about three chapters in... and yes, trying not to compare but I'd heard a lot about the book so I picked it up from the library last week :D

Voodoo in New Orleans, by Robert Tallant.

Research, honestly, just research.

My last book was The Last Madam; a Life in the New Orleans Underworld. Christine Wiltz

Also research, but what a life!

Go to your library. Or see if they offer E-books or downloadable audio books, many do these days. There is no reason that you should not have something great to read any time you want.

Well, the thing is I'm in a Spanish speaking country at the moment, so all my libraries (if there are any in this city) are in Spanish. :( And if I'm buying a book I'd much rather have it be a physical copy. :P

One of the best things about going to college is the variety of books to read...
The Man of Numbers by Keith Devlin (World History)
The Ghosts of Iceland by Robert Anderson (Anthropology)
Crazy Wisdom by "Skip" Nisker (Philosophy)

CONTROL POINT by Myke Cole - it's like the X-Men, but with super authentic military stuff.  Which... does not sound like anything I'd like.  And yet somehow I can't stop reading it.  Books are weird.

I've been telling people for years it's not the type of story it's the way it's written that hooks you. Which is why it's better to read the first few paragraph first before you read the blurb on the back about the novel. For it's the writer's facility for dealing with an issue that makes a good story great.

M&B's
I've heard this is a lucrative market, if you can crack into it. Haven't read one since my late teens. Will read a few to determine whether I could venture into the genre.

Just finished "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. Thoroughly enjoyed it!

Reading another Lee Child and just come across the obligatory Army/Cop Super Babe. Amazingly hot and amazingly single. And by page 200 her and Reacher will definitely be shagging.

Darn. Spoiler tags don't work.  :o

I've read most of the Karin Slaughter books. It starts with a doctor living in a small time, where her ex-husband is the sheriff. Blindsighted is the first.

Challenge for you.  Name a Jack Reacher story where he doesn't get his leg over.  There's at least one.
