Well, I've mentioned before that I like reading some of the older books from time to time. So perhaps no one will be surprised that last night I picked one from the bookcase to read again.
The Turquoise by Anya Seton.
It's a story set in the early days of Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Something I started wondering about last night - the publisher and date of publication. When I turned back to check I was surprised not to find any information about any of this, not even a copyright. The only thing I could find inside or out was the words - Peoples Book Club
Chicago
So I did some digging on the computer this morning and found it was copyrighted in 1946 by Anya Seton Chase and apparently first printed by The Riverside Press in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Okay, I know all that stuff is not necessarily needed to know in order to enjoy the story between the covers.
The main thing is, it's a good story written in a style that almost guarantees the reader's attention to detail if you are interested in a well told story set in a historical time and place with well researched details of both the location and lifestyle of the people.
