Here's what I'm reading atm:
1. Zadie Smith's NW. It is almost cinematic in its approach. She pans in and out of characters' inner lives as well as the things that make up suburban tedium and joy. I wonder if somebody less recognized might have been allowed to adopt this approach to writing. It's very good, to be sure. But I don't see editors/publishers encouraging newer voices to do what Zadie has done. Nonetheless, it's been an engaging, rewarding read.2. Samantha Fowler et al's Concepts of Biology. This is an introductory account of what it means to adopt a purely biological approach to life and life processes. I'm not sure abstract things such as "life" and "consciousness" can ever be adequately discussed solely from one perspective, but it is interesting to read about the physical sciences' approach.

Hav, by Jan Morris. This edition has an introduction by Ursula K. Le Guin, which is what drew me to it. Amusing anecdote from that intro: due to Morris's more typical work as a travel writer, many people wanted to know how they could "book a cheap flight" to this enchanting city. Le Guin dryly observed that, due to many people's poor understanding of fiction, they did not realize that it is not the destination that is the problem, but the origin of the trip: "You couldn't get there, in fact, from London or Moscow, but from Ruritania, or Orsinia, or the Invisible Cities, it was simply a matter of finding the right train." What a loss, now that she is gone!

BTW, I am enjoying the book, apart from Le Guin's scintillating intro!

I like to study, develop and learn something new, as it gives me many new perspectives and opportunities for travelling www.paraphrasingonline.com. I just like reading books like Good Omens, Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Flowers for Algernon.  Listen to classical music and spend time with my family.

Anyway you turn it 'paraphrasing' is stealing other people's writing.

I've just started the Hunchback of Notre Dame... I'm enjoying it but also finding it a slow read, at times having to completely reread certain sections... Hugo certainly liked his descriptions and long, long sentences!
The whole of life is just like watching a film. Only itís as though you always get in ten minutes after the big picture has started, and no-one will tell you the plot, so you have to work it out all yourself from the clues- Terry Pratchett

Of course Virginia Woolf's Mrs. Dalloway, the poor souls who never open a book that I forced to read my work would cringe at Virginia. Mine's at 7th grade comprehension, and they still don't get it, hers, I have not tested it but I wager it would come in at some college level.
