Carbon-forged steel
appliance, fashioned
to home & eject
upon triggering...

Lead-tipped, alloy missiles
projected to a velocity of
360 mi./hour, roughly
a .357 1/2 fast a 727, Boing!
to shoot your ass!

On contact, impacting
the Human target
to penetrate, flay
sever & shatter
lodge & murder
render...!

And this
the initiates' pander
to the seether's gunglamour,
of neo's & diehards' machismo-alike
upoverthere, everywhere
on the plasma, how iron-ick!

Faster than the batted-eye,
a Buntline, smokin' Brown Bess, or
Black Maria (Oh, Mother Of G-d!,
"The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune...")

Haro, could you do a favor and list a link to anything depicting the victims, in the thread op?

Lot of energy here and I understood everything, for a change. As ever, the sounds are good enough for my ear.

Iron-ick was clever.

Dumb people and dead people.

Very powerful HaroHalola. I'm not comfortable offering a real 'critique' because I don't feel qualified so I can only offer my comments. Powerful.

TY, DGS - Not my style to allow a lapse in reply; your attention to my Work more-than-suffices for your claim to "neophytics.  "P2" sits rather nicely for me, would that "swords into plowshares," "Pens (be) mightier than swords," Tienemen be the Square-root of Peace...   H'H./H.e.m.

Dear Fordy - A mishap the etiology of this latent reply; "Bang on target..." scribed on Dec. 7th., just another Day in the ongoing litany of Bloody "Infamies!"  TY, dear friend for the acknowledgement -   H'H./H.e.m

In the circumstances, not the best choice of words on my part ("bang on target").  Unfortunately the specificity of the subject escaped me at the time and I took it as a generalised exploration of the use of guns and killing.  My unreserved apologies to anyone who may have felt offended by my apparent callousness.

Nevertheless, Haro, your words did find their target and the way they explored the mechanics of the act its self was particularly poignant.

F. - To claify, I had nil aforethought when composing nor Posting (12.6) this Piece, nor any cognizance of the date of your Posting 'til today (as I had mentioned, I suffered a mishap); the Poem is "...a generalised exploration of the use of guns and killing" (certainly not to imply blase`), for as Gen. Smedley Butler eloquently opined & orated in '33, "War is a racket!", which leaves me ambivalent about 12.7.'41.  So your contrition & humility, whilst admirable, noble, mature, righteous, & forthright - though I cannot presume to speak ubiquitously - is lost on me.  Again, TY for acknowledging the import of this issue - I "stick to my guns," we are a Morld of Violence, simply(?) that, & no amount of annual "good cheer" rates a hang (no pun) with the overall depravity... "Jeez, ya' cahnnee ga tuh Church, lad, once-a-week 'n expect th' gud Lorrd ta' bles ya' fer that, now cahnn ya'?"  Blessings to you, dear F. -   H'H./H.e.m.

Ahh HH, but to view this Lilly trough my own eyes... Not that there is any fault in your vision my friend!
As for the carbon steel I have to refer to your own sentiments as expressed in your signature:
""WE ARE NOT DEFINED BY OUR POETRY, RATHER OUR POETRY DEFINED BY US!""
and
"The pen is mightier than the sword".

Why the shift in responsibility from author to tool?
My supposition is that we are defined by the works we create not the tools we use to create them. Similar to your signature. However, I cannot blame tools used by defective people.
Is the pen too, a thing of evil?
Should I offer my throat to the lunatic unwielding?
I should like to live for tomorrow, tomorrow tomorrow...
