We think too small, like the frog at the bottom of the well. He thinks the sky is only as big as the top of the well. If he surfaced, he would have an entirely different view.

Watched Jason X earlier today, and that movie's full of silly quotes.  ;D

"What do we do?"
"Now, basically, we... we die."

"It's ok, guys! He just wanted his machete back."

*stab*
"It's gonna take more than a poke to put down this old dog."
*stab*
"Yep.. that outta do it."

"Whoops."
"What do you mean 'whoops'?"
"Nothing."
"Not nothing. You don't just say 'whoops'. What 'whoops'?"

*woman takes Jason's mask off*
"Aww... poor baby, no wonder you wore this thing."

"(Einstein's ophthalmologist also removed the scientist's eyes, which are suspended in formaldehyde in a safety deposit box in New Jersey.)"

Well there's a shitty view to have for the rest of eternity: the inside of a safety deposit box.

"Good friend for Jesus' sake forbear,
To dig the dust enclosed here.
Blessed be the man that spares these stones,
And cursed be he that moves my bones."

-- The epitaph on Shakespeare's grave and, quite possibly, the last verse he ever wrote.

You have to consider the source on that quote though. Baudelaire never married, and so had no experience with married life, yet he had the arrogance to write philosophy about marriage. That's like someone who has never had children writing a how-to guide for raising children. Does the name "Dr. Spock" ring any bells?

This is new info for me, Gayle. Thanks.

That just goes on to prove good writers can sell anything! :)

Flatter me, and I may not believe you. Criticize me, and I may not like you. Ignore me, and I may not forgive you. Encourage me, and I will not forget you.

Great post!.                Quotes are my mentors when I write.  They give me hope and inspiration.
1. "That is the way it was,and that is the way I am, and I did, and I do." Gertrude Stein (my all time favorite). This quote is my attitude. I couldn't agree more.

2. "I have the simplest of tastes, I am only satisfied with the bed." Oscar Wilde, playwright.  (When I shop I look for the best and then wait until it goes on final sale!

3. "I am what I am and I is what I is, that is all that I am.  PopEye, comic strip. (it's just fun.  Gertrude Stein, without an education.

4. "Make sure you are right and then go ahead."  Davy Crockett. pioneer, I watched the tv series in the 1950's & heard Davey C. say those words to U.S. Congress.
(I was 13 years old and this quote has stuck with me all my life. When I know I am right, I go ahead with confidence.)

My own affirmation on my mirror,is "I will live the law of love and everything will be victorious".

When you want to seduce a man with written words, these  three will work.  I am yesterday, today, and tomorrow.  I am forever. Time me. I am timeless, not a trend.

At first I thought you got the attribution wrong on the second quote and that it was actually one of Mae West's. Then I realized that auto-correct got the better of you and the last word should have been "best".

I think Oscar Wilde would have appreciated the double-meaning.  :D

At least he doesn't have to look at New Jersey.
