Hello from New York
« on: November 10, 2007, 12:02:12 PM »
Hi, everybody!

I found this site through Jeanine Garsee's website and really like what I've read so far.

I'm a 37 (okay, almost 38, but who's keeping track?!) mother of four kids ages 8-15. I'm originally from Southern California (though I've lived all over) and now reside in the Hudson River in New York.

My YA trilogy sold to Little Brown over the summer and I'm currently waiting to begin my revisions on book one. The first book in the trilogy isn't slated for release until Spring of 2009, so I guess I have time!

Anyway, I love music, cooking, and reading and writing (duh!). I'm happy to be here.

Michelle

Thanks, Russ!

I just re-read my post and realized you must think I'm a mermaid...

Make that "the Hudson River VALLEY". LOL!

Hi Michelle

Welcome to MWC, so glad you joined us (thanks Jeanine!).  This is a friendly place, with lots of opportunity to learn, share, help, have fun, eat buns (well, cyber-buns) and drink (yep, sorry, cyber-booze too!).

Most importantly, it's a great writing community. Please check out the forum etiquette guidelines (link at the top of this board) and use the 'search' and ARC, there's some great stuff in there.

Delighted to hear your work is already accepted, do let us know 'how you did it' - share your stories / successes / difficulties etc.  Whan genre is your trilogy?

Look forward to seeing you on the site.

Damn!  It woud have been good to have a real genuine mermaid on the circle.  You could have answered all the difficult questions the Fantasy writers just gloss over ;-)

Welcome aboard anyway, even if your tale is different from the tail we had been led to expect.

Oooh, dear, Michelle, you might be sorry you said that. I'm sure someone (who shall remain nameless) will be along any moment to ask if you want to write a haiku. ::)

Here's the link to make sense of this.

Hey Michelle, welcome! Glad you're here. You'll love MWC.

Just so you know, Jen is known on MWC as Jenna Grace.

She is a great writer. I think she is the master of masters when it comes to dialogue. I just finished reading her second ms and she has a incredible book there.

Anyone who writes YA and wants to see terrific writing should check out Jen's debut book, which is a "Borders Original Voice" choice. (For those not in the US, Borders in one of the major bookstore chains.) Before, After, and somebody between. (On Amazon) http://www.amazon.com/Before-Somebody-Between-Jeannine-Garsee/dp/159990022X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1195453761&sr=1-1

A few months back, Jen wrote a piece on dialogue in her blog. It was great. I have a project going in the kitchen or I'd hunt for the link to that post. Jen's website and blog address are listed in the November newsletter on my website. (Click on the globe that is below my pic to the left.)

Gotta run, have fun!

Yes, Little Brown is a great deal. You'll have to keep us posted of the process and your progress.

Hi Michelle, just read your post.  Welcome, I just turned Jr. a couple of days ago.  This a wonderful site.  I love it here, and you will too.  Congrats on your trilogy.  By the way, what's a trilogy?
