conception
« on: January 11, 2008, 10:49:18 AM »
hey ho, not been here for a while, life got in the way, but inspiration strikes at the oddest of times and this poem was born whilst waiting for a bus

conception

round
red
your head
has an itch you dare not scratch

once
done
white brilliance
ushers in black funereal plumes

one
shot
that's all you got
to start something that may never end

yay go.dot!!!! Brilliant to see something from you again! ;D  - it's been way too long! (okay, I guess you're entitled to have a life, but still, we missed you around here.)

I've read this a few times and no idea what you're on about :)

The title immediately made me think about conception and birth.  Then the actual words made me think it was about someone preparing to blow their head off.  But then, "something that will never end" didn't seem to fit with that.  Unless you mean that being reduced to non-sentient matter is an unending circumstance.

So, are you willing to give clues?  Or am I being too impossibly thick to deserve clues?

It's got to be about sex, that's what grabbed me in the poem.

Vagina

I love this bit.

Okay, I get the rest of it now - but how the hell is "black funereal plumes" the vagina?  Funereal?

I see more...

The act that creates life summed up by the parts involved.
The round red head of a fetus.
Ambitions we shy away from by not scratching.
The journey of life from beginning to end.
We go to the light at the end while our survivors see the funeral.
What we do in this life is our one shot.
What we do or don't do haunts us for eternity.

Thumbs Up go.dot!

My 2 cents...

thanks all for having a read, seems my theme was too abstract

It's about having spontaneous creative ideas and how they might develop or not. I thought I'd compare it to imagery of lighting a match, which flares up quickly and then soon is just smoke, but maybe it will light a fire that develops.

The "may never end" line is one of my frustrations with writing music. Sometimes I get so far with a piece and then decide I don't like it and it remains forever unfinished.
