Just published a post about this stylistic technique on my new writing blog. It can be a powerful tool for making your writing stronger, but I haven't seen it widely discussed elsewhere.

Writers Wanted! / Ghost Writer Wanted
« on: January 17, 2017, 01:25:03 PM »
I have been contacted by a gentleman named Greg from Florida, USA, who is looking for someone to ghost-write a book and possibly a screenplay for him. Here is the relevant part his message to me:

Quote
I grew up during the 80's in the Florida Everglades. There is a very famous documentary called cocaine cowboys. I happened to be the generation of these peoples children and know many of their kids. I would like to do a book about the life and times of the younger generation and how it affected our lives.

The second project is one about being a white American Christian man as well as a US Army veteran and surviving in today's world while being attacked from all sides.

Both of these books are non-fiction as they are the actual experiences of my life.

Please advise at your earliest convenience. I am in the US state of Florida!

I have checked and Greg appreciates that he will need to pay a professional fee for this. If you wish to contact him for more info or to offer your services, his email is xscapecorp-at-gmail.com. Obviously, change the -at- to the usual @ symbol.

The Coffee Shop / My new personal finance blog
« on: December 16, 2016, 05:57:58 AM »
I hope the mods won't mind me mentioning here that I just launched a new UK personal finance blog at http://www.poundsandsense.com/

For those who may not know, I managed MWC for about eight years, but stepped down last year for various reasons. The personal finance blog is a new venture for me and something of a new direction, but I do have a freelance writing blog as well at www.entrepreneurwriter.net. Visitors to both blogs are very welcome!

There is a lot of buzz going on at the moment about Steemit, a new social blogging site that pays you to blog and also to comment on other people's posts and vote up the best ones. I'm still getting my head around it, but you can read more on my blog if you like:

At present they are paying all new members the equivalent of around $7 just for signing up.

Writers Wanted! / Wet Zebra want books and e-books
« on: June 07, 2016, 01:21:08 PM »
A new publishing company, Wet Zebra, is inviting submissions in all genres, fiction and nonfiction. The way they work is that authors submit a synopsis and sample of a book they would like to have published. Potential readers vote on the ones they would most like to read, and Wet Zebra then publish (and promote) the most popular. For more info, see their website at http://www.wet-zebra.com/

The Coffee Shop / Install This App to Help Beat Cancer
« on: May 10, 2016, 08:32:56 AM »
Just wanted to give you a heads-up about my latest blog post, which spotlights a free Android app that uses the power of distributed computing to help beat cancer.

The idea is that you install the app on your Android device, and while it is recharging the app uses the CPU to perform sequencing calculations as part of a massive cancer research project being run by the Garvan Institute in Australia.

For more info, please visit http://www.entrepreneurwriter.net/download-this-android-app-to-help-beat-cancer/

Thank you!

I have recently been researching the money-making potential of audiobooks. It has opened my eyes to the potential of this method, and I am actively considering turning at least one of my Kindle e-books into an audiobook using Amazon ACX.

While researching the subject, I came across a very useful Kindle e-book called Audiobooks for Indies. It's a well written and comprehensive guide to this subject, and costs only 99p/99c. I have seen plenty worse guides that this on sale for $20 or $30 on ClickBank and JVZoo, so it really is quite a bargain, in my view.

Anyway, if you'd like more information about this, please do check out my latest blog post at http://www.entrepreneurwriter.net/audiobooks-for-indies-a-great-guide-for-aspiring-audiobook-authors-and-producers/ I'd also be very interested to hear if anyone else on the forum has tried this themselves.

Writers Wanted! / UK-based virtual assistant wanted!
« on: April 01, 2016, 09:11:43 AM »
No, not by me! A freelance writer/editor I have worked with in the past is looking for a UK-based virtual assistant to forward the occasional email and answer the occasional phone call on his behalf. He says typically this won't occur more than half a dozen times a year. He wants to pay an agreed fee (to be negotiated) for each email or phone call handled. So you definitely won't get rich, but it should be an easy, hassle-free way of earning a few pounds

If you're interested, please send me a forum personal message, including your email address, and I will put you in touch.

Some of you may be interested to read the new guest post on my Entrepreneur Writer blog by writer and poet Jeff Phelps.

Jeff is a successful, traditionally published novelist, but his novels are both now out of print. In this guest post, he reveals how he took the bull by the horns and republished both his novels as Kindle ebooks. There are some good tips for other aspiring Kindle authors along the way, based on lessons he learned through doing this.
