Title: Movie Titles For Sequels (That Might Not Quite Make It...)
Post by: Minotaur on March 02, 2007, 11:13:47 PM
The Place: Hollyweird - where everyone wants to be first to be second.

So, seeings as how things have been in a slump, movie wise, someone gets the bright idea to Combine two former *HIT* movies to make an award winning sequal. How could it go wrong
...go wrong...go wrong...gnorw og...gnorw og...

(Example: "Dirty Dancing - With Wolves")

Durn, I've been trying to think of two movies that I could put together, but it just seems too hard. Anything I can think of is too old for you lot on here. But I haven't given up yet. :)

The Lord of The Ring.

Frodo, upon his return from Mordor, opens the door to his hole in the ground in The Shire to find a myserious package in the hallway.  He opens it to find a videotape.  Of course he doesn't have a VCR so he calls upon his friend Gandalf to project the video onto his kitchen wall.  They watch it, and 7 days later Gandalf randomly dies.  Frodo wonders why he didn't die then rememebers he fell asleep halfway through the video (he had just saved middle-earth for Jesus sake, give him a break) so he sets out on another bloody quest (gets boring after a while) and vows to uncover the mystery of the Videotape.

Raiders of the Lost Archive

In which a batty professor with a singuarly inappropriate hat and a penchant for being dragged along under passing vehicles whips a bunch of 'freshers's repeatedly as they struggle through the dusty archives and break through into a long-ago walled-off section of the University Library, meeting and surmounting such ancient horrors as the Card Index of Doom, Dewey the (decimal) Destroyer, and 'Stax' a towering semi-animated semi-sentient zigarrat of musty mouldering volumes and scrolls tied with fragile ribbons.

Viewers who enjoy this may also like;

Silence of the Librarians.  An arty black&white and wholly gratuitous humour-noire in which a seemingly sweet and demure fifty-plus librarian kills anyone who dares speak above a whisper using the silent basilisk stare she has developed over many years.  She then catalogues and indexes the bodies in her 'Special Reference' section where they are neatly shelved and displayed - spine outwards, of course - and dusted once a week in accordance with Library Regulations.

Indiana Holmes;  (A musical)

A 20th century Adventurer and a Victorian detective are accidentally merged in a bizarre time travel experiment, and journey together using a violin, a mild dose of cocaine, and a handheld GPS to find the legendary Temple of Doom.  During the journey the combined character occasionally lets out a tourettes-like shout of "What's on?" and the train of native bearers - all awaiting their cue to run away and abandon their employer sing back at him "Not a lot."

After enough adventures to fill the back of a postcard - according to all the best screenwriting guidelines - the hero is abandoned by his helpers and staggers over a monstrous sand dune playing his violin in a drug induced melancholy.  He beholds the Temple of Doom - guarded by two Golden Arches - and immediately succumbs to a fatal cholestorol overdose brought on by a 'Sixteen Pounder Septtuple Cheeseburger Deluxe.

In the final seconds his bush hat bowls across the sand in the grip of the Sirocco, and an abandoned violin slowly fills with dust as the dying notes of a nocturne in dead flat fade into silence.  The dropped whip lays there in a curiously familar shape, posing the eternal question, "Why?".

On Deadly  Groundhog Day

Corporate big business and the environment face off over, and over, and over, and over again as Steven Segal makes his directorial debut with Michael Caine as the convincing oil mogul. Bill Murray plays an arrogant, weather forecaster who starts out in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania and ends up in Alaska where he is to do a broadcast the next day about the annual ritual of the coming out of the groundhog. Yes, groundhogs come out too. So what is coming up out of those holes in the ground, oil or Punxsutawney Pete for Pete's sake?!

Ollie, I beg to differ. Since I live in Greece, I believed that others might think I was speaking personally and that anyone who knows me intimately (notably the current Mrs Xerika) would have:

1) read the remark;

2) thought I was talking about myself;

3) wet herself with derisive laughter;

4) and then quite probably have posted a photo of the real thing to demonstrate the exaggeration of the adjectives in question.

Now I think you'll agree that would be a tad embarrassing.

The Parent Trap In Divorce Court

Despite what the twins originally conjured up, Nick Parker discovers that he can have his cake and eat it too as the courts in America didn't recognize his divorce (which was originally filed in England).  He must now file for a divorce American style before marrying his wife a second time.  As time (naturally) drags (and cobwebs build) due to the backlog in American courts, Nick gets distracted by a bevy of girls visiting his vineyards as does Elizabeth when an old photography flame, now a household name with Playboy, comes to call.  Watch the playful romps as the twins struggle with school and keeping their parents together.  LOL!!!  :D

Partially suggested by my own girls, Elizabeth and Bernadette.  :D

(Despite my entry, the irony is that in America this could actually happen.  LOL!!!  :D )

Prince Caspian's Chronicles - Revenge Narnian Style

Despite his outwardly appearance of humility, on the inside (thanks to all that Spanish blood in him) the Prince is actually seething with hatred and self loathing.  As such he begins to document how he's going to get revenge on the Pevensies when they return.  He also plans to make Aslan a wall hanging in the castle thus proving the age old theory that the apple did not fall far from the tree when old Miraz bought the farm.  Although Susan, whom he lusts after, cannot get back into Narnia, he turns his affections on her younger sibling Lucy with whom he plans to re-populate as much of Narnia as possible so as not to let the human element die out.  Watch for an over-dramatisized duel (when is there not one involving the Disney camera's of late?) between Caspian and Edmund over what Caspian twistedly sees as his defeat at the hands of Peter.  Look for Edmund's head to be posted on a gate at the backside of the castle while Lucy writhes and screams in childbirth.

LOL!!!  Sorry, couldn't resist it.  The sad irony is someone in Hollyweird will probably try to sell this as a dark chapter in the Narnian history that Jack left out of the books.  LOL!!!

Butch Cassidy and the Dirty SunDancing Kid

Paul Newman and Robert Redford reappear on the big screen as the would-be-dead bank robbers presumed shot to death in the original movie. How did they escape alive? Someone was tricked. Look for the Bolivian cavalry General in a pink a tutu and his shock and terror to discover Jennifer Grey had a nose job and can't get work in Hollywood anymore so the tutu wearing General will be dirty dancing with none other than Alvar Nunez Cabeza de Vaca's ghost. What's more horrible for a manly-man General, wearing a pink tutu or dancing with a legendary Conquistador in front of his men?

Ferris Bueller's Big Chill

An unaccepted idea for the sequel where Ferris insanely decides to skip school on a day when a huge cold front hits Chicago and he contracts a fatal dose of influenza.   Being as popular as he is (was), a large group of his friends gather at his house for the funeral, resulting in a sleepover that incorporates some classic 60s music, a few fun games of football on the front lawn, and climaxes with Cameron fathering a child with Sloane, because her dream was to have one with Ferris, which is no longer possible.

Fiddler on the Princess Bride

After Buttercup and Westley ride off into the sunset with Fezzik and Inigo, Buttercup discovers that Westley isn't all she believed him to be.   He fools around behind her back and, heartbroken, she sends him packing.   Fezzik, who she is still in contact with, gives her a lot of emotional support, helping her to realise that it is actually he that she had the strongest feelings for.   Fezzik doesn't feel comfortable with the idea and, even though in his caring way he tried to let her down gently, she took it as a huge rejection.   She sells the house and moves to Russia.   Her next-door neighbour in Russia happens to be a poor milkman who, ironically, is a large man not unlike Fezzik, and when she hears him singing songs on his roof and shaking his big stomach to the wind as he dances, she falls head over heels in love.   They are married and live happily ever after...

This is a terrific idea for a game...I'm having a ball.   Just one more for the night so that nobody gets sick of my efforts.

Seven Brides for Seven Brothers Die Hard

Inspired by the fairytale love story of the wedding of the seven brothers from the hills, a media mogul from a multi-national television company offers the fourteen people a fully paid trip to LA to stay in a hotel for their honeymoons.   Everything is paid for in total with the catch being that it will be filmed for a reality TV show.   Things take a turn for the worse when the hotel they are staying at is taken over by people imitating terrorists as a front for a high-level robbery.   Much of the seige is caught on film, and a lone-wolf New York cop saves the day, leading to the prevention of the thieves meeting their goals.   But not before the seven brides and seven brothers are "sacrificed" in the hostage drama.   The planned reality TV show is used regardless, for the seige footage, and it wins an Emmy.

Godfellas - The story of three mob hitmen who hang up their body bags for the body of christ in this wacky tale of High Crime and Higher Callings. Rated PG-13 for Language, Strong Sexual Content and Mild Violence.

Monty Python and the Ballad of Ricky Bobby - The kings of British sketch comedy take their comedy to the NASCAR circuit and find stiff competition from a team of up-and-coming French drivers who insist on calling the team kiniggits and hurling insults--and livestock at the British team.

American Psycho X - Meet Patrick Eichmann, a devout, hate-ridden neo-Nazi by day, he finds his nightly urge to commit random acts of kindness to peoples of different race, creeds and religions spilling over into his day-to-day life. And while you can goosestep next to him, heiling Hitler and even feel that your hatred for the Jews and ideal of the master race is somewhat comperable, he is simply...not...that...stupid. He feels his mask of insanity slipping.

A few more pitches for the bigwigs in Hollywood:

A Streetcar Named Vinny - Stella and her sister Blanche move out of Stanley's abusive apartment in New Oleans for a motel in Mobile. They dive headlong into the madcap life of Vinny, a chauvenist in his own right, and a failed lawyer, faking his way through a murder trial. When Vinny starts referring to the two women as Yoots, it drives the women mad and they set to ridding the world of Vincent Linguardia Gambini. Despite not appearing in the movie, the rumor mill is already buzzing that Marissa Tomei may be a shoe-in for Oscar gold.

One Flew Over Amy - Randall Patrick McMurphey checks himself into a mental health clinic, only to fall in love with Alyssa, a hotbodied young headcase who's been clinically diagnosed to be an egophile, completely and utterly enamored with herself. R.P. tries to win her over, much to the dismay of long term friend and closet homosexual, Chief.

Jun-go (Juno and Fargo) - A pregnant teen hires a pair of inept hitmen to take out the father of her unborn child in an elaborate life insurance scam. Everything that could go wrong, does. Steve Buschemi guest stars...Wait, that's a bit redundant (Kidding, I think the Busch kicks ass).

A Few Good Lambs - Think Animal Farm...but with a serial killing lamb.

Cool Hand Lolita - ...no comment

The Tasers of Navarrone

An imaginative if not entirely convincing remake of the original thrilling film made especially for those timid little pink-souled creatures who are fool enough to believe that all violent confrontations can be resolved without loss of life by using 'less than lethal' equipment.

Famous film critic Ricky 'Kill me now, before I die of die of terminal ennui' Lardarse describes this film as "Shocking.  Simply Shocking."

=====

Brown-out.

A rather poor rework of the Dirty Harry movies, in which Clint Eastwood 'tasers' so many criminals in one hour that the lights go dim and thousands of people die from food poisoning caused by insufficiently cooked microwave meals.

Famous film critic Ricky 'Kill me now, before I die of die of terminal ennui' Lardarse describes this film as "Even more shocking than 'Navarrone'."

Where Eagles "Shit!".

A remake of 'Where Eagles Dare', showing the previously cut scene where the stuntman misses the roof of the cable car, grabs at his friend, and they both plunge to their death, screaming obscenities and frantically checking their insurance to make sure wives and family will benefit.  A timely reminder of the world before CGI made 'heroics' look like something from a damned Disney cartoon and considerably less realistic.

"Hermione, if we're so bloody powerful why can't we stop that woman from writing any more books about us.  I just want to get out in the garden and grow veggies, or read seed catalogues in my shed whenever you're pissed off with me.  Just like any other old git.

Singing In The Monsoon

A remake of the 1952 classic from acclaimed director Akira Kurosawa.

The opening scene has famed actor Toshiro Mifune dancing down the rain slicked streets of Yokohama. Fortunately, the musical was shelved when a tsunami struck with laser precision and swept the entire production company out to sea.

Gayle:  Mum says you don't have to be deranged to kill thieving teenagers ;-)  But it could be a useful legal defence.

Lol, all of these are fucking epic. Great job.
