I can't be bothered to check in on this ghost town any more.
-
Yeah, I might ditch this place too.
-
Yeah, he didn't mean it this time either.

For every negative there's a positive.

Before I get too carried away in the game of my WC is better than your WC, let me explain why I am of the opinion the MWC is the best.
MWC is the best writers group because:
My Writers Circle (MWC)has over a decade's worth of writing information that was posted (IMO) by some of the best authors and writers on this planet.
Their examples of penmanship and their knowledge on writing can't be beat- only repeated.
Those who take time out of their busy lives to help new writers will always be remembered for their kind deeds by those they helped- who reached their writing dream. jt

Once the best -always the best.....
I disagree. To continue being the best, you have to remain ahead of the rest.
That is the very opposite of what has happened to this site in the last year. Almost all of those amazing writers who built up that archive of incredible advice have left. The main strength of this site was that it had great reviewers and people who have left can't review new work.
-
Ollie is right - the site took a major hit, which made a huge impact. But we are doing what we can to put things right.

The main strength of this site is that it has(and always has had) great reviewers and people who review new work.
END OF YEAR NEW MEMBER NUMBERS FOR MRC:
2005 32
2010 17816
2015 1168
2017 4290
2018(TO DATE) 13995
There is no one, two or three reviewers (MRC members) who(alone) can take credit for making MWC the best writers site on the internet;there are no members solely responsible for making MWC the place it is today-except, those first few who created MWC.
MWC is more than a peer critique forum, My Writers Circle is more than discussion boards about self-publishing and marketing, commonly asked grammar questions, plot and style advice, and a networking. It's about individuals taking the time to help others to become the best writers they can be. jt

MWC imploded about 12 months ago due to a massive problem with spammers.
Most of the long-established members left because of this.
The problem has now been resolved - thanks in no small part to the efforts of MarkT - and I'm one of the few who have returned, hoping this site will return to its days of glory. Remember - you can't keep a good writers' site down.

Welcome back H3K.
You are correct: The problem has now been resolved - thanks in no small part to the efforts of MarkT
And if I may add: And thanks to others such as yourself H3K. jt

You're doing an excellent job, mate. I'm glad to see things improving.

I know it sounds like I'm banging on about this, but the number of new members isn't really indicative of an active forum.
As an example; so far this year the entire forum has had 6237 posts (this will be the 6238th). In 2013; The Red Barron Bar had 8971 posts on it's own (yeah, I counted because I'm supposed to be writing and this is the kind of s*** I do when I'm supposed to be writing).

I know it sounds like I'm banging on about this, but
Yes it does. ::)
-
Yeah, I can't help it. I was here during the golden age and seeing it described as a collection of literary giants dishing out the truth of the art is frankly hilarious. ;D
-
Can we tone it down with the posting in the bar?

Oh come on Noizy, I think I've been pretty mellow in The Bar recently.
;)

Not you, Jan.

Not you, Jan.
Oh, I thought I was Ollie. Thanks for setting me straight.

You're welcome.
