Title: Butterfly. More like a moth perhaps ;-)
Post by: Gyppo on November 13, 2013, 05:47:44 AM
Some day I'll be dead.
Hopefully not too soon,
but my pen will be stilled
and the words will flow no more.

Most people won't even notice
but some will miss me.
They'll get together to say goodbye
as I waft up the chimney at the Crem.

Free at last to wander again.
They'll say I wasted my talents,
"He could have done so much more."
"Too busy chasing rainbows."

It's true.  I'm a butterfly,
but with serious moments,
and time for strangers.
So put this on my marker...

'Even if he never arrived,
he loved the journey.'

I'm a butterfly  - love it :)

Enjoyed this. People only see beauty if they are looking for it.

thanks for the read, Gyppo

I love the image of wafting up the chimney at the crem.  Definitely a sense of freedom conveyed and very true.. it matters far more that you enjoy the journey rather than get where you wanted.  Sometimes stepping off the path takes you on a new adventure.

Gypppo I really love this one.

Do you mind if I have the exact words carved on my marker?
Perhaps if we two meet coming out of the chimney we can swirl around for a while like two wraiths.

Nice one, Gyppo.

"I'm a butterfly / but with serious moments" I esp liked this bit. I'm imagining the butterfly-Gyppo fluttering about the garden, but stopping on a dahlia for a while.

The line about loving the journey but never arriving can't get enough attention. We choose a journey, not whether or not we will arrive. That is up to the fates. When we choose a journey we should choose well, or be miserable even if you do arrive.

About that thing authors try to achieve - you know, that evoking thing?

If I confess my tears, do you get bonus points?

Truly moving and ...you. :-*

I've never hugged a butterfly before.

Big hug anyway. Air hug,

From time to time my thoughts have drifted to how I would like to be thought of, remembered after I'm gone. If I had ever sit down to write any of my musing out, it would have fallen far short of what you have done.

In other words Gyppo, I seriously like this.

It seems to have touched a few nerves over the months since I posted it.

Thankyou, all of you.
