Title: Fed Up
Post by: Maria on January 30, 2006, 02:57:53 PM

Hello everyone,

I am fed up at the moment we are moving house, I have just been packing box's etc.  It is driving me crazy because I can't get as much done as I want to on studying my How to write a Book, and my writing.  Does anyone else get as down as me when everyday living gets in the way of writing or am I weird?.

Maria

I'm with you 100% on that one Maria, life has a nasty habit of getting the way of writing.

Don't despair, Maria. Soon you'll have moved and you'll be able to settle into a new routine, with writing as a big priority!

I'd love writing to be a major priority but, as you say, life gets in the way for most of us who can't make it a full-time job (yet!).

Little steps - as long as you keep moving forward, that's the important thing. Don't try and do 'lots' every day - keep your goals realistic. Until you've actually moved, be happy to get 'a little' done every day (and don't forget to keep a pen handy to write down your new character ideas, plots, etc. on all those packing boxes!!!!)

Best of luck with the move,

Symphony

:)If its any consolation Maria, Isaac Asimov, the late, great science fiction author learned his English from the writing lids and sides of packing boxes. Your cryptic comments, when deciphered, might form the basis for a good short story or even a book.

Good luck

Geoff

Hi Maria.

This too will pass. I HATE moving and stayed in our last house for over 20 years. Then built a new house and had to move 20 yrs of crap- oops I mean stuff into the new place. I am full of empathy for you. Don't forget to mark the box with your writing stuff on all four sides. Let us know how the new place suits you. Cheers  :) mary

Hi Maria,

Life sure does get in the way of learning to write, but without all those experiences enriching the world, life would be pretty boring! And we get to appreciate our writing time more.

Hiya Mini. Hope everything goes well with your move!!  I find it's my three kids that stop me writing, not to mention a hubby who moans that I spend too much time on the computer!! Even more now that I have found this site!! I try to write whenever I get the chance, so I'm sure you will soon catch up when you have settled into your new home. How exciting for you. All the best.

Mary, Wow 20 years! Why didn't you just burn the old place down and start over?  :D

My late aunt Gen liked to say "You accumulate for the first 40 years, the second 40 you give it all away"

My in-laws moved a few years ago. I think all they did was move boxes from their old basement to the new one.

Well Maria,

you know they say that moving house is supposed to be the most stressful part of life.  When its done though its great.   So hang in there gal!!
