Hi Everyone,
Taking Nick's advice, I've begun writing to publishers in the hope that someone may be interested in my idea for a book, which is about the 87 "homes" we have lived in since 1974.
My first reply was from Book Guild Publishing in Lewes. They said " This promises to be a fascinating project", and that they would be pleased to receive the complete manuscript for assessment.
I was over the moon until I saw that the author will be asked to pay the costs of the first edition, which, on phoning them, turns out to be £7,000 - £8,ooo. IS THIS NORMAL? because it's completely beyond my means.
Aly.

Aly,
This is NOT NORMAL it seems to me they are 'Vanity' press in disguise!
Stay away from these predators; they are only after your money. There are plenty of mainstream publishers that would be interested in your book - not your bank balance.
